How To Choose A Wedding Photographer For Your Wedding

How to Choose Your Wedding Photographer

As your wedding day is booked, the venue, the car, and all those good things that make your wedding day a day to remember, and in that list one of the most important things to remember to do is to book the photographer. It is his or her duty to capture those precious moments on in your wedding Moonloop Photographers that you will have for the rest of your life. But when it comes to choosing your photographer how can you be sure you have found the right one?

Interview Your Wedding Photographers

A good photographer will know how to get the best from the wedded couple and their guests and will be able to select the best light and backgrounds for the photographs. When you meet a photographer who may potentially be the photographer for your wedding, ask about creativity and his or her suggestion for creating the wedding album in terms of style of images. The photographer you choose has a role that goes beyond simply taking pictures. A good photographer will know how to create opportunities and scenarios that will create interesting and fun images. Remember, your idea of fun may not be the same as your photographer. For example, at a recent wedding I photographed the Bride was picked up and held by the Groom and the Groom’s Men and the Father’s of the Bride and Groom while she reclined in their arms. This is a common image, but not one that I personally would ever suggest as it is just not my idea of either a nice image or a fun thing to do. However, it is what they wanted and I was happy to go along with the show.

Your Photographer’s Personality

This brings me to the next important thing to remember, the wedding is your day, not the photographers, this is a day for you to have fun and have a good time. People relate differently various personality types. Choose a friendly wedding photographer that can make you smile, one who can sense the mood of the guests and allow things to flow naturally and with a sense of joy for the occasion. This will make photographs look more natural and relaxed.

Try to have a pre-wedding photo shoot, this will help you to understand your photographer and more importantly him to understand you and how you feel in front of the camera. With the exception of your partner you will spend more time with the photographer than with any one else on the day of your wedding, so make sure you can get on well with him or her.

Evaluate Portfolios

What is the most beautiful picture in the world? You may have an answer, but another person may disagree with you because the answer is subjective. The old saying is true ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder.’ The portfolio of any good will look good to most people; you must make sure it looks good to you. Look at their portfolio to make sure that the photographer’s style reflects your own style and creativity. If a set of images or a sample album looks good, ask to see all the photographs from that wedding. If the photographer has visited you at your home and this requires a seconded visit, then so be it.

Get Estimates

Most wedding photographers suggest different “packages”, allowing you to select a deal that will best suit your budget. Compare the pricing packages of several photographers to find your best option for evaluating the price along with all the other factors, including quality of their work, reviews by other clients, their flexibility and personality. Don’t just go for the cheep and cheerful option either; you are paying for talent and ability.

A Flexible Approach

A photographer should be flexible with their timetable for the day. Make sure that they will be around through both wedding and reception if you need them to be. A good photographer will only book one wedding on any one day, as he or she will know that things can go wrong and the photographer may need to stay a little longer.

As a photographer I have taken guests to the reception because the taxi has not arrived. Gone and collected gas and balloons to decorate the hall, stayed later than anticipated (recently by six hours) because there has been a problem with guests or family and the photos would not have been taken if we had stuck to the original agreement. For all of these things there was no extra charge, as it is all part of the service that a photographer should provide if he or she is both flexible and personable.

Check The Paperwork

There are three or possibly four things it is worth checking with your photographer, and dare I say you should ask to see the evidence of. I can only speak from a British Photographers Point of view on this as other countries will have different organisation and rules, but still check!

First, check the photographer’s Public Liability Insurance Policy, if Great Aunt Agnes trips on the tripod and fractures her hip is the photographer covered?

Second, check the photographer’s Professional Indemnity Insurance; if the photographer looses all your photos can you get compensation?

Third, is the photographer a member of a professional body like the British Institute of Professional Photographers? Ask to see his or her ID

Fourth, is the photographer’s car covered adequately with breakdown cover? If his or her car does not start will they get to your wedding?

Finally, if you do find you need help with those little extras like taking guests to the reception venue, ask if the photographer’s car insurance covers business, because if not, then your guests will not be insured to travel in the car.

Why it’s worth splurging on your wedding photographer

Proposal and planning? Done. Ceremony? Check. Honeymoon? Complete. Picture yourself strolling through the door of your home with your brand new spouse, fresh off the plane from a tour through Italian wine country or a resort in Bora Bora. You sit down to check your email. Nothing from your photographer.

You check in a few days later and finally get a link to a preview of your wedding photos. They’re edited haphazardly and cropped in odd places. The sparkle of your ceremony and the glitter of your getaway are fading, and you wish you had gone with the three-star hotel instead of the five-star, and paid more for memories from your special day.

Now, instead: picture strolling through the door of your home with your new spouse to find a brown paper package tied up with string, a disk with a thousand favorites — pristine from the frame to the editing — with a second disk of terrific outtakes and a handwritten note from your photographer thanking you for a great experience. Maybe a bottle of wine even made its way in there.

Not everyone has the budget to find the Annie Leibovitz of weddings to document their happy day, but when it comes to hashing out a spending plan for a wedding, photography should be towards the top of the list. It’s easy to say yes to a friend or family member with a background in or love for Walla walla Photography, especially when they’re happy to offer a bargain. However, when you pay for a worthwhile photographer, you’re getting more than a disk and print package of your wedding day.

The best wedding photographers come with years of experience. They’ll make you feel comfortable and at ease throughout the day, and they’re not afraid to go above and beyond by lending a hand where it’s needed. Planning for a wedding involves a million little things, and after taking the time to perfect each one, photos that don’t match the aesthetic you strived so hard to capture might even make you misremember the joy you felt on your wedding day.

Many times, you can find your perfect  Walla walla Photography match by a referral from a friend or even by how photographers present themselves online or in their promotional material. However, there are a few things to keep in mind during your search, especially when weighing options.

Look for a package deal: investing in an experienced photographer usually means they enlist a second or even third person to assist in shooting the wedding. Multiple photographers means different angles or a different mood, and ensure the perfect shot for every moment. Also, remember to start searching early. Experienced photographers tend to be in high demand, especially if your wedding is scheduled for busy season, so be prepared to book far in advance.

Finally, don’t be afraid to ask questions and give your input when you meet with a photographer. You don’t want to become Bridezilla or Mr. High-and-Mighty, but remember that the photographers are there to meet your needs and help you accomplish your wedding goals. You may be spending a high percentage of your wedding budget, but the right photographers will want to provide 100% satisfaction.

How to Find the Best Wedding Photographer

As with all once-in-a-lifetime events, you’ll want to remember every moment of your wedding, but the truth is that it’ll fly by so quickly. This is where the all-important wedding photographer comes into play, one of the most important choices and investments in your wedding plans. You don’t get a second chance to document your wedding. The professional wedding photos commemorate your special day that took months of planning. You want to be able to trust that your wedding photographer will capture the beauty and range of emotions at your wedding, and visually tell the story and create a lasting memory of your special day.

Now, how would you even begin searching for the best wedding photographer?

Give Yourself Enough Time
First of all, start the planning process over a year in advance because you’ll need time to find and investigate top local wedding photographers in and around your area before you even consider interviewing and booking them. Non-winter seasons are popular for weddings and photographers will typically need to be booked at least a year in advance for weddings planned during April to October.

Collect Recommendations
Your friends, relatives and coworkers will likely have personal experience with wedding photographers whether for their own weddings or for that of their own friends and family. Plan lunch dates to peruse their wedding albums and trust your initial reaction of the artistry and ability of the wedding photos to capture emotion.

Also take the time to ask for the person’s opinion about their photographer. Here are some good questions to ask:

How would you rate your photographer on customer service? Professionalism?
Did the photographer follow through with everything you discussed before the wedding?
Was the photographer responsive and punctual?
Was the photographer personable and helpful in making you feel relaxed, so you could enjoy the moment? Did you ever feel rushed by the photographer?
Was the photographer more incognito or more intrusive?
How did the photographer get along with unruly children who refused to cooperate?
Did the photographer have an assistant? What was the assistant like?
What kinds of compliments or criticisms have you received from family and friends about your photographer and your wedding photos?

Investigate Online
It’s a mandatory step to take advantage of the wealth of information on the Internet to search for top wedding photographers in and near your area. At each photographer’s website, look through their online portfolio. Don’t forget to also take the time to check out each photographer at the Better Business Bureau and on Yelp for reviews and complaints.

Go through the same process for the photographers you’ve narrowed down based on recommendations from your contacts.

Follow Our Steps For Perfect Hair on Your Wedding Day

Wedding hair is normally one of the most important considerations for a bride-to-be, after the wedding gown. The aim for perfect wedding hair should be to create a lovely balance between your personality and style that will best complement the wedding dress you have chosen. That’s why we’ve created a guide to achieving the ultimate wedding hair – follow these steps to help you look and feel your absolute best on your wedding day.

Do your research

It is vital to plan ahead! The earlier you start the more likely your hair will be in the best condition possible on your Miami Top Bridal Makeup and Hair Styling Service. Start a wedding scrapbook with hair pictures that you love. Do your homework by browsing through bridal magazines and checking out the hundreds of wedding hairstyles available online. It is also a good idea to keep an open mind and explore many possibilities before ruling out a style. Ask family, friends and most importantly, your hairdresser, what styles are likely to suit you or what isn’t possible with your hair.

Practise good hair care
It might seem obvious but for great looking hair, it’s not just about the style but getting your hair in top condition too. Speak to your hairdresser to ensure you are using the right type of products for your hair type. Don’t do anything too dramatic with your hair in the approaching six months to your wedding – a poor haircut or a colour gone wrong might not be fixable overnight! Commence weekly treatments 12 weeks prior to your wedding date, and try to give your hair a break from harsh styling methods. It is recommended that any haircuts are completed two weeks before and a colour is done approximately 2 days prior. Do not wash your hair on your wedding day unless instructed by your stylist, this should be done the day before, perhaps with a relaxing home treatment if available, as your own natural oils will help keep your hair shiny and smooth on your wedding day.

Wedding hairdresser or DIY?
The first decision to make is to decide whether you will do your own hair on your wedding day or if you will hire a hair stylist. If you opt for a DIY hairstyle, make sure you practice first and choose a style that you find easy to create. If you will be using a hair stylist, ensure they are experienced in bridal hairstyles. Once you decide on a professional stylist, you will need to choose whether you attend a salon or hire a mobile service at your home. The advantage of a mobile hairdresser is that they come to you – you are not forced to rush around on the day. The disadvantage of a mobile hairdresser is that there is normally only one hairdresser and with a large wedding party this can often mean an early start! Also, some hairdressers may book out quite a long period in advance; so secure your wedding day and trial bookings as soon as you are able to.

Accessories can add a beautiful finishing touch to your perfect wedding hair; however choosing from the many types of hair accessories available can be difficult! Hair accessories include tiaras, silk flowers, fresh flowers, combs, fascinators, clips and your veil. Make sure you have any wedding hair accessories with you for your trial appointment so that you can deal with any unexpected mishaps before the big day.

Your wedding hairstyle
Your wedding hairstyle will depend on a number of factors. Firstly, whether your wedding ceremony is outdoors or indoors and how long you will need the style to last. An up-style is normally very sturdy and lasts the longest period of time. A half-half style will still be sturdy but depending on your hair may not last quite as long. An all down style may not be suitable for outdoor weddings if you fear the wind blowing hair onto your face. You also need to decide whether to curl your locks or have a sleek straighter look. Maximise your good points rather than deciding on a style that isn’t really you. Shorter brides might wish to add lift to their hair to add height; taller brides might opt for the opposite effect. You may also need to consider your wedding theme – romantic, glamorous, fairytale, modern? Be sure that your hairstyle looks good from both the front and the back – get someone to take photos of you from all angles after your wedding hair trial. If you have done all the research and are still undecided, it may be best for you to opt for a traditional and simpler wedding hairstyle that will never outdate. Make sure you wear a zip or button up shirt to your hair trial and whilst having your hair styled on your wedding day to ensure you won’t have a hair out of place when dressing later on. Most importantly, you need to be comfortable in your style and feel beautiful!

How to Dress Your Bridal Party

You are going to give a lot of thought as to who you will ask to be a bridesmaid or a groomsman in your wedding. After all, it will be one of the most important days of your life. Make sure you also give a lot of thought as to how you dress him or her. Their personality, style and size should be reflected in what you ask them to wear. The bridesmaid dresses should be comfortable and affordable and it should reflect the theme of your entire wedding. The tuxedos or suits should also be comfortable and they should compliment the bridesmaid dresses. The two most important goals are comfort and affordability. Your attendees should never be made to feel burdened or financially stretched just because they are to be a part of your wedding day.

Once again, I recommend that you do the majority of your “foot work” on the internet. There are lots of sites and lots of styles so click and get started.

I know you’re thinking that this is going to be a “no-brainer” but don’t you think it’s really time for more thought to be given to the groom and tuxedo styles when you are planning a wedding. If you are willing to take some extra time looking at the different tuxedo styles that are out there, you’ll be able to find a choice of very unique tuxedos, suits and even casual beach attire that will make your groom look special. We want the Wedding Beauty Service for entire bridal party and groom to both look special.

There are other ways to make your groom stand out besides simply matching shirt, tie and cumber bun colors to the bridesmaid dresses. This is where specific tuxedo styles comes in to play. Don’t be afraid. Be creative and experiment a little on something that’s just slightly different in tuxedo styles. Be creative and by all means, use the sources that are available to you via the internet.

If you are in the market to purchase a tuxedo, you can go to high end department stores to find tuxedo styles to choose from . You could probably even go to establishments where there are tuxedos for rent to possibly purchase a used one. Don’t overlook any of the possibilities. You never know what you will find especially where there are tuxedos for rent. Tuxedo styles are forever changing so search a lot. Some of the renting establishments have other wedding deals that you may want to take advantage of such as limousine rental. Some will include the limousine rental in with the tuxedo rental. I urge you to give it some extra thought because some places are only able to offer the limousine service in exchange for a higher price when it comes to renting their tuxedos. I suggest that you allow each business to provide you with the products that they specialize in.

When it comes to the bride and groom, I can’t emphasize enough how important it will be to make sure they are not only looking fabulous but are also comfortable on their wedding day. When searching for tuxedo styles chose one that will set him apart from the usual and you’ll have your guests talking for weeks after the big day!

Remember to give your flower girl, ring bearer and junior bridesmaid the same consideration used to select the bridesmaid dresses. A dress that is too mature for a small child may turn your tiny maid into a beauty pageant contestant. Keep it simple. There is beauty in simplicity. Besides, you never ever want anyone but the bride and the groom to be the center of attention.

I can’t say it enough. Keep everything simple from the bridesmaid dresses and hairstyles to the bridesmaid accessories and make sure everything is comfortable. You don’t want them fainting because their dress is too tight or kicking off their shoes too soon because their feet hurt. A hairpin that just won’t stay put or a pair of earrings that have the ear lobes painfully drooping can turn beautiful bridesmaids accessories into a nightmare. You don’t want your beautifully dressed bridesmaid falling apart as she walks down the aisle. By the same token, you don’t want your handsome groomsmen to be tugging at their collars because the tie is too tight.

Comfort needs to be considered not only when it comes to selecting menswear and bridesmaid dresses but also in selecting accessories for men and for bridesmaids.

You can be comfortable and in style at the same time!

Sapphire Engagement Ring

Sapphire engagement rings have come to be one of the most popular choices for couples looking for an alternative to diamonds but who want a durable gem. Sapphires are a beautiful and unique choice for a ring, and while blue shades are the most common, sapphires naturally occur in an array of colours.

Like rubies, sapphire rings are a form of the mineral called corundum, with the only difference being colour. Rubies are red corundum, while sapphires span the rest of the colour spectrum, including blue, purple, pink, orange, green and yellow. The stone’s colour can also vary immensely depending on the light, sometimes making it very difficult to determine the best colour for one’s purchase. Currently mined in Australia, China, Kenya, India, Madagascar, Tanzania and parts of the US, sapphires are rarer, but generally less expensive than diamonds.

The Deeper Meaning of Sapphires

The sapphire symbolises truth, blessings, purity and knowledge, all of which are important aspects for a relationship with a possible spouse-to-be. Also a symbol of a relationship based on faithfulness and sincerity, proposing with a sapphire engagement ring is the perfect way to begin the rest of your life with someone. In fact, some royalty and high priests wear sapphire rings to symbolise their blessings as divine holders of knowledge and truth. Also a birthstone, the gem holds extra importance to those born in the month of September.

Processing Sapphires

It is unusual to find a sapphire engagement ring that has not had its stone enhanced in some way. A sapphire is enhanced to improve the purity of its colour, but sometimes the treatment can affect the value of the gemstone and its stability for use in a ring. The most common treatment of sapphires involves heating the stone, which has an excellent stability rating and improves both colour and overall appearance. After this treatment, a sapphire engagement ring typically will require no additional special care for the rest of its lifetime, and its price is rarely affected.

There are several other treatments that the gemstone can undergo before being used in a sapphire engagement ring, but each is more controversial than heating. These enhancements include surface diffusion, which is not a common practice but has a good stability rating; irradiation enhancement, which is used for yellow or orange sapphires with very poor stability results, or a beryllium treatment that brightens yellow or orange colours. This process is highly controversial because not all stones are correctly labelled after this treatment.

Overall, sapphires are an incredibly durable stone that can become an amazing engagement ring, requiring very little maintenance after reliable heat treatment. Sapphire engagement rings are a perfect choice for couples looking away from the classic diamond, yet who still want a beautiful, elegant and unique ring to call their own.

3 Top Tips For Choosing A Wedding Venue

Wedding planning can be really stressful but, once you’ve got your venue sorted, you can safely say that you’ve got the ball rolling.

However, you may find that choosing and securing your venue is one of the most difficult aspects of wedding planning and, if you can relate, this is the post for you because we’ve got 3 top tips for choosing a wedding venue which can really help you out.

 Know your guest list

Before you even begin looking at brochures and websites, you should have at least a rough idea of your guest list or you’re going to be wasting your time. Having a rough idea of the numbers will allow you to consider and view appropriate wedding venues right from the beginning.

If you don’t know a ballpark figure for how many guests you want to attend your big day but you’re viewing venues that only have the capacity for 100, you’re going to be limiting yourself massively and spending your time looking at venues which won’t work.

If you’re struggling to create your guest list, this article from The Knot should be able to give you some helpful pointers.

Figure out your non-negotiables

If there are certain aspects of your ideal wedding that you’re not willing to compromise, make a note of those before you begin looking at venues and keep them in mind when you’re viewing.

As an example, if you’re dead set on having a cocktail reception but the venue you’re looking at isn’t quite big enough, you’re better off ruling out that venue rather than looking back at your wedding and resenting that you couldn’t have a cocktail reception.

We spoke to wedding experts, Broadoaks Country House, who said: “It’s really important that you discuss your non-negotiables with the venue you’re considering because they may have some solutions for you before you rule them out completely.”

“Similarly, if there’s no way that a venue can cater to one or some of your non-negotiables, it’s better to get that out of the way as soon as possible so that neither yours nor their time is wasted.”

Consider the venue’s lighting

One of the most important – yet most commonly overlooked – features of a wedding venue is its lighting potential. Lighting can make or break the whole mood of your wedding so finding a venue that can get it right for you is crucial.

Some venues may have perfect lighting, some may not have great lighting but will allow you to bring some of your own, and others may not be right for you at all.

If a potential wedding venue doesn’t quite have the right lighting for you but you’re not willing to write it off just yet, here are 19 wedding lighting ideas that are nothing short of magical.

Hopefully, these tips will help you on your way to finding your ideal wedding venue. Remember that the most important thing is to find a venue that you and your partner both love and that it doesn’t have to be too stressful to find one!

Do You Need an Alcohol Licence for Your Outdoor Wedding?

When you’re planning an outdoor wedding, it seems like there’s a million and one things to remember to organise.

One of the things which often gets forgotten about is whether or not you require an alcohol licence. After all, it’s not something which most of us really have to think about in our day to day lives.

However, the last thing you want is for the happiest day of your life to be ruined by some stuffy council official, just because you forgot to fill out a form.

Do I Need One?

The short answer is that whether or not you require an alcohol licence depends on whether or not you’re going to be charging your guests for alcohol at the event.

If you’re feeling generous and are having a totally free bar, then you won’t require a licence, but if you’re charging for it, either at a bar or as part of a ticket, then you will require one.

(One possible way to get around this could be offering a free bar but asking your guests for suggested donations to help cover your costs, or you could just ask all your guests to bring a bottle of their own.)

But fear not, because alcohol licences are much easier to get hold of than you probably think.

How Do I Get One?

Thanks to the Licensing Act 2003, you can acquire what is known as a ‘Temporary Event Notice’ (TEN), which allows you to carry out ‘licensable activities’ such as selling alcohol for your event.

While it is an easy enough process, the most important thing is that you get this sorted as soon as possible.

It’s easy to forget about amongst all the other wedding planning that’s no doubt going on, but applications can take a while to get processed, so we’d recommend applying for your TEN no later than ten working days before the wedding.

What you need to do is head to to find your local council’s website and find the application form for a TEN.

This shouldn’t be too difficult to fill out, and once you’ve done so, you’ll need to submit it along with a £21 fee.

Finally, they’ll send you back a copy of the complete form (assuming the application is successful) which you just need to have on hand at the wedding in case anybody comes asking any questions!

Of course, if you’re snowed under with the rest of your wedding planning, you can outsource the work to an agency such as Hospitality Training Solutions who will handle the whole process for you and give you that one less thing to worry about.

Also, if you’re hiring a company to put on your cash bar for you, they will most likely handle all of the licensing for you, but do be sure to check this before hiring them.

Whatever you choose to do, be sure not to forget about sorting the license as it could well be something which comes back to bite you when the big day comes around!
